For the 8th consecutive year, Sodexo will demonstrate its Quality of Life Services leadership as the official food supplier for the Dakar Rally, January 3 – 16, 2015. Serving over 2,500 people in 14 days, Sodexo teams are proudly taking on another major logistics, service and environmental challenge.
Ensuring 24-hour service under extreme conditions
This year poses one of the most complex logistic tests to date, since Dakar 2016 covers over 9,000 km of extreme tracks through Argentina, Chile and Bolivia. Sodexo will deploy an 80-person team, specially trained for adverse conditions, working in 6 mobile kitchens. The fleet of kitchen trucks are constantly on the move ahead of the race. At each bivouac, the Sodexo team quickly sets up to deliver the first-rate quality of life services upon which the organizer, Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), depends.
That means 20,000 breakfasts, 13,000 lunch packs and 24,000 dinners, all served with a smile in adverse conditions. For the 4th year in a row, the team is also offering a special laundry service to combat the desert dust. Parallel to providing Quality of Life services in extreme conditions, Sodexo is concerned with its environmental impact.
