For more than 20 years, Sodexo Canada has been promoting, reinforcing and nurturing business relationships with Indigenous Communities and Nations. This long-term partnership has been recognized and celebrated every year by the Canadian Council of Aboriginal Business (CCAB). In fact, Sodexo has been receiving the highest level of recognition issued by CCAB, the Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) certification. Companies that work towards this classification can testify that ‘it is not a rubber stamp exercise to get this certification’. The PAR certification is a clear demonstration of the involvement of the organization toward the Indigenous Communities and Nations, mostly driven by strong leadership with defined commitments and objectives.

A win-win relationship was and still is only true if we support the prosperity of the Communities and Nations we are involved in. It can go through supporting and being part of several social, cultural and economic activities. – Rejean Gosselin, Director of Indigenous Relations Eastern Canada

The PAR Gold certification represents a benchmark which all companies that work with Aboriginal business partners and in communities should aspire to. It’s not an easy achievement, especially at the gold level, and really takes the commitment of the organization to obtain. To the aboriginal community, it represents that your company is a good business partner, a good place for members of the community to work, and that you’re committed to prosperity in Aboriginal communities. It’s a real accomplishment that Sodexo has many years of PAR Gold. – Dean Johnson, President of Sodexo Canada from 2008 to 2017

Together, we strengthen and enhance a prosperous Indigenous economy through the fostering of business relationships throughout our Energy & Resources accounts. As a company, it’s important that we leave a positive ‘legacy’ footprint in the communities where we operate. Through our training and development programs, our partnership commitments, and sustainable practices, we can help to elevate local communities. - Erwin Joosten, Senior Vice President of Energy & Resources at Sodexo Canada

Legacy is probably the best word to describe Sodexo when it comes to relationships with Indigenous Communities and Nations. Since the beginning, Sodexo values true, respectful and meaningful business partnerships and the organization will continue to do so for the next twenty years and beyond.
