We are pleased to present the latest edition of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) publication. The Canadian Better Tomorrow & Indigenous Reconciliation Report exemplifies our unwavering commitment to driving positive change.
Aligned with Sodexo's global vision, our Canadian CSR strategy is focused on initiatives covering sustainability, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I), Indigenous reconciliation and fighting hunger.
With these three interconnected issues, we are proactively working towards creating a Better Tomorrow — for the individuals we serve and employ, for our communities, and for the planet and precious resources we all share.
Sustainability
At Sodexo Canada, we prioritize reducing our carbon footprint, minimizing waste, and implementing sustainable practices. Transparency in our progress is key as we strive towards our environmental goals, driving positive change through our commitment to sustainability and responsible operations.

Our Commitment to Carbon Emission Reduction
Sodexo is dedicated to reducing carbon emissions by 34% by 2025 across all scopes, verified by SBTi. Sodexo Canada achieved Zero scope 2 emissions in all spaces in 2022, surpassing global RE 100 commitments four years ahead of schedule.

Using Tech to Prevent Food Waste
Sodexo Canada leverages technology to reduce food waste and promote responsible resource usage. We track and measure food waste with our WasteWatch program and its intelligent measurement technology. At 47%, we are well on our way to reaching our target of a 50% reduction by 2025.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) are at the core of Sodexo's values. We foster a culture where everyone feels a sense of belonging and growth, and these values extend to our suppliers. With DE&I in our DNA, we prioritize client needs, while supporting social and economic progress.

Our Commitment to Supplier Diversity
At Sodexo Canada, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion drive our supplier partnerships. We collaborate with a diverse network of Small and Medium Enterprises, supporting our local sourcing strategy. We proudly champion women-owned businesses and those owned by individuals from visible minorities, Indigenous communities, and the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Driving DE&I with Employee Business Resource Groups
Our five Employee Business Resource Groups (EBRGs) foster a culture of diversity and inclusion through networking, mentoring, coaching, and development. They provide a safe space for members and allies, driving DE&I initiatives and strategies across Canada.
Empowering Indigenous Communities: Our Commitment to Indigenous Reconciliation
Businesses play a vital role in Indigenous reconciliation efforts.
At Sodexo Canada, we proudly engage with Indigenous communities, fostering partnerships and supporting capacity-building. Through dialogue and tailored initiatives, we contribute to a progressive Indigenous economy. And by expanding purchasing power, combating food insecurity, and providing training programs, we prioritize sustainable solutions for lasting economic reconciliation and positive legacies in the communities we serve.

The Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation
The Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation is dedicated to supporting charitable groups that build sustainable food systems, fight hunger, and empower women in need. Through the foundation, Sodexo Canada donates time, skills and money to tackle hunger and promote sustainable practices, with employees contributing over $142,000 to the fight against hunger in 2022.

Remembering an Advocate for Food Security
Kevin Fraser, former Food Service General Manager, inspired support for students facing food insecurity. In his memory, the Student Union Food Resource Centre became The Kevin’s Corner Food Resource Centre. Sodexo also established the Kevin Fraser Memorial Bursary, awarding five $1,000 bursaries each year to Nova Scotia students in the Human Nutrition Department.
