Food Services teams on campus show gratitude and give thanks

  • The Sodexo Education Food Services team at St. George’s School in British Columbia sets a high bar for special event catering on campus. For Teacher’s Appreciation Day and Thanksgiving last year, this private school team created an immersive food experience for the students, faculty and community to enjoy.

The St. George’s School food services team is led by Melissa Gaudiel, General Manager, who planned both events with the support of her team. “It’s a collaborative effort of great food, beautiful décor, a fantastic team to run the event, and of course, our amazing facility and staff at St. George’s school that make these events come to life”, she explains.

Gratitude for teachers, faculty and staff

Among the various lessons that the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us, is to not take our teacher’s for granted. These hard-working individuals care for and teach our youth, so deserve a day of gratitude. At St. George’s School we celebrated both Teacher’s Appreciation Day and Staff and Faculty Gratitude Day to express how grateful we all are.

To show gratitude for our teachers, we took them to Hawaii! Well, through food that is. The Hawaiian-themed day featured Virgin Strawberry Daiquiris, Maui Pork Chops and Coconut Pineapple Cupcakes for dessert. Food fit for a laulau.

For Staff and Faculty Gratitude Day, we showered them with pies, pies, and more pies! We ordered and handed out 290 fresh baked pies from one of the best pie bakeries in town, the Pie Hole. In addition, the school purchased one pie per each of our staff members to take home with them for the long weekend. What flavours? The choices included their award-winning Raspberry Cream Crumble (as seen on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and a featured recipe on the Food Network) or their delicious Pumpkin Pie.

We are so grateful to the school, so it was important to show them the best way we know-how, to feed them!

Giving thanks at Thanksgiving, but distanced

Holidays and special events all looked a little different the past year due to the pandemic, but no virus would stop Chef Eric Taylor on Thanksgiving. To celebrate the holiday, Chef Eric and the food services team hosted a socially distanced Thanksgiving meal for student boarders and guests that included a fully served Thanksgiving dinner (turkey with all the fixings) and a dessert buffet.

Chef Eric was featured in the Imagine Cookbook for his delicious recipes, check it his famous pizza knot and cinnamon rolls recipes!

Learn how together, we can create immersive and innovative food experiences for your students, faculty and staff on campus.
