Sodexo named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2021

Burlington, April 22, 2021: Sodexo Canada has been named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2021 by Media Corp. This special designation recognises our leadership in creating and developing a culture of sustainability.

In Canada, our sustainability strategy focuses on four pillars that are aligned with our Global Better Tomorrow 2025 roadmap: prevent food waste, prevent material waste, promote plant-based meals and source responsibly.

Along with our 42 Sodexo Canada Sustainability Champions, we work to reduce our carbon footprint and to inspire others to do the same. “We are very proud of our Sustainability Champions who are spreading and promoting a sustainability culture everywhere they go, at work and at home”, says Andrea Cantin, Corporate Social Responsibility Coordinator, Sodexo Canada.

We know that as a food and facilities management company, food is our biggest source of waste, that’s why Sodexo has committed to reducing our food waste by 50 per cent globally by 2025. Thanks to partnering with LeanPath we are preventing and reducing food waste with our global program WasteWatch, an automated waste tracking and analytics platform to measure food waste performance with a goal of preventing it before it happens.

We also partner with the Humane Society International (HSI) Canada to train Sodexo chefs on plant-based cooking techniques and to transition at least 20 per cent of their current menu items to be plant-based with support from HSI/Canada's Forward Food program.
